COVID-19 hit Liverpool as Salah tests positive
Liverpool forward football star, Mohamed Salah has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement seen by CAPITAL POST on the Egyptian Football Association website on Friday, it confirmed that Salah tested positive for COVID-19 and might go into isolation.
The claimes that he contracted the virus while on international duty.
The statement was titled, ‘Mohamed Salah infected with Coronavirus’.
It reads: “The medical swab conducted on our national football team showed that our player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, is infected with coronavirus after his test came positive, although he does not suffer from any symptoms, while the other members of the team tested negative,” the statement said.
The statement further explained that his club has been informed of the development and that he would be isolated with all his contacts stopped.
The record seven-time African champions Egypt only drew their first two matches in Group G to lie third in a section also including Kenya and the Comoros, and which they were expected to dominate.
As a result of COVID-19, both matches against Togo would be played behind close doors
with the first in Cairo on Saturday and the return match in Lome Tuesday.
