Kogi beggars mourn ex-Kaduna Governor, Balarabe Musa’s death

Beggars in Kogi were not left out in mourning the demise of Kaduna State second Republic Governor, Balarabe Musa’s death, while they expressed shock that a prominent politician Nigeria got has died.

The former governor died on Wednesday in Kaduna at the age of 84, with encomiums from his former political associates and Civil Society Organisations pouring in.

Balarabe Musa, according to his son, died as a result of complications leading to heart attack in the early hours of Wednesday in his residence in Kaduna.

However, beggars in Lokoja on Wednesday in their convergence at their usual joint by the old market were in mourning mood discussing about the demise of Musa, while describing the development as unfortunate.

Some of them who knew the late ex-governor in Kaduna in their youthful days before they were struck with circumstances that forced them into begging before relocating to Lokoja expressed that the late politician was a good man.

One of them who spoke with journalist in Hausa described the late Balarabe Musa, as the “emancipator of the poor and the oppressed in the society.”

A blind man who gave his name as Mallam Abubakar Ibrahim, said he wept upon hearing the demise of Musa, saying: “my Balarabe Musa, the man who loved the poor with all his heart is no more.”

A cripple explained that the former has left a legacy that would be difficult for anyone to equate given his unprecedented love for the poor.

“How I wish Nigerian politicians can borrow a leaf fromal Mallam Balarabe Musa’s political ideology which focused on the need to bridge the gap between the poor and the rich, so that life can be better for all of us”, he spoke in Hausa language.

” Though he could not achieve his passion,as it should be,due to nature of the society we are, the fact remains that he tried hid best, leaving the rest for posterity,” Mohammed said.

Yet another beggar, Mallam Nuhu Aliu, who said he lost one of his hands(left) in an autocrash some years back, also expressed dismay over the sudden demise of the former governor of Kaduna, describing him as a great lover of the “Talakawas.”

“We, the beggars, will sorely miss Balarabe Musa’ he said, nodding his head in remorse.
