Breaking: Wike, Southeast governors in emergency meeting over IPOB
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and Southeast geopolitical zone governors are in emergency meeting at the Government House, Portharcourt.
Though, no official statement has been made, CAPITAL POST learnt that the meeting was at the instance of Wike over IPOB’s attack and killing of Military, Police and other security men in Oyigbo, a local government area innRivers State.
Following the ugly incident, Wike has vowed to rid Rivers State of members of Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
However, Sunday’s emergency meeting which the outcome is being awaited, was led by Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi, with other South East Governors to the Rivers Government House.
They arrived at Government House, Port Harcourt on Sunday evening and immediately went into a meeting.
Wike has declared war on members of the proscribed IPOB after they reportedly hijacked the #EndSARS protest to unleash mayhem on security formations in Oyigbo killing six soldiers and four policemen.
The proscribed group was also accused of burning all the police stations in Oyigbo including an Area Command, 50 police vehicles, hospitals, and a court.
In retaliation, the Army has launched a deadly operation in the community to fish out members of IPOB and retrieve over 50 AK47 rifles reportedly stolen by them.
Last week, Wike through one of his Commissioner fulfilled his pledge of N200 million to families of military and Police officers that were killed with each presented with a cheque of N20 million.
