Ortom mourns General Dewua, Anweh

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has mourned the death of two prominent Benue citizens, Brigadier General Charles Dewua and the former Benue State Head of Service, Dr. Fidelis Anweh, describing their departure as painful loss to the Nigerian Army, Benue State and the country at large.

In separate statements by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terver Akase sent to CAPITAL POST on Monday, Ortom said he received the sad news of Brigadier General Dewua with shock and devastation, regretted that the late Dr. Anweh was a selfless public administrator who contributed selflessly to the growth of Benue State Civil Service.

Change of Name

The statement said: “Dewua was one of the reliable Army Generals who made selfless contributions to the country especially in the area of human capital development.

“He was a true professional who added value to the military, and states that his services will be deeply missed at a time Nigeria is facing security challenges.

“I pray God to grant the deceased eternal rest and console the Dewua family as well as the entire people of Gwer West Local Government Area.

The governor further recalled that was Dr. Anweh believed in human capital development and worked towards that while serving in the Civil Service.

He continued: “The late Dr Anweh was an experienced administrator who made selfless contributions to the growth of the state civil service, a peace builder and seasoned public servant who believed in human capital development.

“Benue will miss the wise counsel of the former Head of Service, especially now that his administration is repositioning the service for greater efficiency.”

While commiserating with families of the deceased, he prayed for the repose of their souls.
