Killings in Plateau communities, act of terrorism, not Fulani herders – ethnic group

Frontline Communities of terror attacks in Plateau State comprises all communities under terrorist attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen such as Attakar, Berom, Irigwe, Ron, and Mwaghavul tribes in the state have condemn in strong terms the narrative and claim that the killings in the state is as result of herders-farmers clashes.

President of the group Mr Benjamen Shaweng while addressing a Press conference in  Jos on Tuesday said Plateau State is not witnessing herders-farmers clashes, instead the communities are seriously under siege by terror machinery operating in the State.

They group call on President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Simon Lalong who doubles as the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum to rise up to their responsibility of doing the needful in the circumstance.

“Our attackers are not our neighbours and beside we have no issue in contest or conflict with the Fulani terrorists. We equally make bold to state categorically that we have no herders-farmers clashes in Plateau State, instead we are under siege by terror machinery and hereby demand government both at state and Federal levels to rise up to the occasion by doing the very needful in the circumstance”.

Shaweng added that if truly peace has returned to the state in conformity with the Political slogan of the State government then there should be a peaceful environment.

“We cannot be said to be enjoying peace when  our people cannot freely access their farms and carry out their legitimate vocations in their ancestral homes”.

“We therefore demand an end to the perennial state of internally displaced persons syndrome in our communities and where such exist, Government must be seen to be meeting their needs in all ramifications”.

They noted that land grabbing must be rejected and discarded, saying all individuals and groups living on lands forcefully grabbed must be ejected immediately to make way for the rightful owners.
