Kogi Socio-cultural group, Ojuju Agbadufu Igala Forum (OAIF) has condemned strongly the killing of the former Chairman of Dekina Local Government Council, Hon. Akowe Adejo who was shot penultimate week, but died late yesterday at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The group suspected political thugs as behind the killing of the political leader, while lamenting that value for sacred lives no longer matter to gun wielding thugs in these days politics, particularly in Kogi East Senatorial District.

Change of Name

Reacting to the death of the APC stalwart, the President in Council of Ojuju Agbadufu, Chris Ukwenya wondered how could a political leader be assassinated for the cause he believed, in the name of politics, noting that the late Adejo Akowe participated in a primary election exercise of his party, APC, where he reportedly bared his mind, only for him to be shot the very night.

The group said that those who were behind the killing would never in life experience peace, even as their generation remain cursed forever.

They urged politicians in Kogi to see themselves as one, saying that the Socio-cultural group is pained by the dastardly act which was described as an aberration in Igala land.

They noted: “The attack is one too many. The attack on late Adejo Akowe is an attack on all Igala sons and daughters, irrespective of political and religious differences.

“Politicians should learn to bear each other’s opinions on political matters. Democracy is not about killing; it’s not about thuggery; it’s about development of humanity through the people, who chose whoever they want to lead them.

The President in Council of the group tasked security agents to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous act, noting that they shouldn’t be a sacred cow, “where there is a breach of law”.

The group added that they were relying heavily on security agents to explore their intelligence prowess to bring perpetrators to book, insisting that there have been recycle of killings in Igala land for so long a time which they believed, security agents has capacity to burst the gangsters.
