Governor, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State appealed to management of Electricity authority to give consideration to indigenes of the state in terms of employment once the Akurba power substation is completed.
He made the case while inspecting ongoing work on the site of the project recently.
“It will be far convenient for the Transmission Company of Nigera (TCN), the firm handling the Akurba power plant to employ indigenes mostly from Akurba, Adogi, Lafia and neighbouring communities, especially when recruiting operators to man the station.
He noted that if indigenes were given an employment, it would address the issue of accommodation and transportation as they could trek to work from their respective homes.
In his usual character, of not relenting in his efforts to pursuing things for the betterment of citizens of the state, Sule promised to reach out to the management of the TCN, with a view to have a good synergy with them and also the need for them to employ and train indigenes around the power plant, who will work on the power station.
Our Correspondent report that Akurba power substation is currently at 95 percent completion, and is expected to commence distribution in no distant time.
However, If the project is put to use it wil no doubt address the issue of power outage in Lafia the state capital and its environs.
