Nasarawa former Senator lauds Governor Sule’s policies, seeks support for him

A former Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial zone, Suleiman Asonya Adokwe has thumb up efforts of Governor, Abdullahi Sule on holistic approach towards curbing insecurity in the State.

He made this known while playing host to members of State Executive Council (SEC), NUJ, the Nasarawa State Council in Lafia.

The former Senator who scored, Sule administration for its resolve to tackle all forms of insecurity in the State.

“Frankly speaking, the present government under the watch of our governor has approaches different from the past administration when the government either look the other way when some community are attacked or they are suspected to have a hand in such attack.

“As you are all aware, I am a card carry member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I always commended the ruling party where they have got right as well point out where they have gone astray as an elder statesman. Adokwe confirmed.

“We all know how the State was used to be in terms of insecurity across-board”, therefore our present governor deserved accolades towards this direction of fight against crime and criminalities. He added.

“When I was in the Senate, often times, I moved motions to draw the attention of the federal government and security agencies to the insecurity in my State,” he added.

Adokwe acknowledged that aside of banditry, kidnapping, terrorism issues that has been disturbing the entire country, but, here in Nasarawa State, we experienced less problem of communal crisis under Sule administration in the State.

While rating the performance of Sule in the last one year in office, Senator Adokwe said so far, all is going well especially in the areas of regular payment of salaries to civil servants, pension and gratuity.

“This payment of salaries, pension and gratuity is a right of civil servant or retirees yet some State Governors shy away from paying staff on government payroll. Just as he pointed out that anyone that is paying salaries as at when due not in percentages deserved commendation.

The former lawmaker tasked journalists hence there is a need for them to always support the present administration in the state to enable it succeed in their set goals.

“You should praise them where they have done well and point out where they are going wrong with the view of ensuring good governance that would benefit the people.

The former Senator also expressed gratitude to journalists in
the State for the publicity he had enjoyed while in the Senate for 12 years.

He therefore said as someone that has served as Commissioner of Information in the State and Senate Chairman on Information, he would support NUJ to bring life back to the Press Centre.

In his remark at the visit, the State chairman of NUJ, Comrade Salihu Alkali told the former Senator that the visit was aimed at introducing the newly democratically elected leaders of the union to him as a critical stakeholder with the view to cement cordial working relationship as partner in development project of the state.

He commended the former Senator for his role towards attracting federal government presence to the State while in the lawmarking business.

“Let me use this medium to solicit your support and cooperation to the leadership of, NUJ,for you to Carry out one or two projects at the Press Centre to make it viable again. He appealed.

“We would soon begin the construction of chalets to provide accommodation to our colleagues who might have need for it while in the state and even members of the public to generate income for the union,” Comrade Alkali confirmed.
