Kano Government calls for arrest of key NB Plc’s men over alcohol smuggling

The Kano State Government on Monday call for the immediate arrest and prosecution of key men of Nigerian Breweries Plc who are alleged to have been aiding the alcohol cabal in Kano.

The statement names the Brewery Manager, Abel Ajayi and one Uche Ogbozor calling on the Inspector General of Police to immediately arrest the duo for deliberately violating Kano laws.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Kano Governor on KAROTA, Honorable Nasiru Ziku said, ‘’the alcohol cabal in Kano have persisted for years even after the ban of alcohol, saying, “have always wondered how the dealers get easy access in to Kano until few days ago when our joint intelligence unit discovered that one Uche Ogbozor of Nigerian Breweries and his boss in Kaduna, Mr Abel Ajayi have been masterminding the snuggling of alcohol drinks into Kano.’’

‘’We work closely with Hisbah and the intelligence suggests that most alcohol smuggled into Kano are Nigerian Breweries products.’’

‘’We will charge the arrested driver of the truck to court for reckless driving under heavy influence of alcohol and the Hisbah will also take charge of the alcoholic content, while we take step to sue the company.

Meanwhile the driver and owners of the truck conveying 1850 carton of beer is at large, the police are on the issue to arrest and prosecute the driver and owner of the truck.
