BREAKING: 2025 budget defence of Auditor General for the Federation suspended 24 hours to deadline

The Senate Committee on Public Accounts on Tuesday suspended the 2025 budgetndefence of Auditor General for the Federation due to ill-preparation.

During the defence at a Committee chaired by Senator Ahmed Wadada, the Auditor General, S.K Chira could not speak to the documents and often been confused when asked questions paticularly on the 2024 budget performance.

Change of Name

The suspension has put the allocatin to Auditor General’d Office at risk as Wadada confirmed Wednesday as deadline for reports of various Committees to be assemnled before the Budget Committee on Appropriation which very unlikely that OAGF will make it.

Chira appeared before the Committee unprepared and he couldn’t answer questions posed to him concerning the 2024 budget performance his office.

Anger stirred up as copy of budget documents being read by the Auditor General was different from copies made available to Committee members.

Allying fears of missing the budget chances, Wadada in answering press questions after the Committee meeting said: “It is to the Auditor General for the Federation to go get prepared and return, even in two hours now that he has been told that Wednesday is the deadline.

“He is the Auditoe General auditing government agencies, Senate Public Accounts Committee is statutorily empowered to audit his office.

The Auditor General declined speaking when he was approached by the Senate Press Corps members.
