Late Ubah’s group, Ikemba Front collapses structure for Chukwuma’s governorship bid
Following the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s death last year, his major political support group, Ikemba Front has collapsed its structure in support of the governorship ambition of Paul Chukwuma for the Nov 2025 election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ubah represented Anambra North Senatorial District on the platform of the Young Progressives Party, YPP for the second term before his demise in London.
He later defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and was among the many aspirants eyeing the APC’s governorship ticket ahead of election that comes up late this year.
The Ikemba Front led by Dr. Chidi Okoye collapsed its structure two days after endorsing Paul Chukwuma, a former National Treasurer of APC to be the next governor of Anambra State.
Dr Chidi Okoye speaking during a rally at Paul Chukwuma’s country home, said the endorsement was in keeping with the recognition that Chukwuma has capacity to wrestle power from Professor Chukwuma Soludo-led government of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Okoye said: “As a founding member and former National Auditor of the APC, Chukwuma has played a pivotal role in revitalising and strengthening the party in Anambra State, earning the confidence of the Ikemba Front members.
“His strong ties to communi¬ties across the state ensure that his policies will be inclusive and people-centered.
Okoye pointed out that Chukwuma had been instrumental in establishing operational offices across the state’s 326 wards and 21 local governments, effectively enhancing the APC’s presence and influence.
“It was based on what he is capable of doing that the mem¬bers of Ikemba Front moved a motion for his endorsement. The motion came from the floor mem¬bers and was generally support¬ed by all persons. I can assure you that he is going to win. And he will reposition Anambra State.
“We will mobilise votes and resources to ensure Chukwuma emerges as the APC’s candidate in the upcoming primaries, as his ambitions align seamlessly with the desires of the Anambra pop¬ulace,” he added.
Contributing, a one-time House of Assembly member for Onitsha 1 State Constituency, Hon. Chigbo Ebwezor, observed that APC under Chukwuma’s leadership, would end the abys¬mal failure of APGA in the areas of insecurity, poor infrastructure, and one-man show of leadership.
Responding to his endorsement, Chukwuma expressed im¬mense gratitude that the Ikemba Front group that he described as the biggest and largest support group in the South-east zone found him worthy to carry the party’s flag.
