Rescued abducted kids reunite with family in Bauchi

Three children who were rescued by the Police operatives in Bauchi and Anambra States have reunited with their family in Bauchi, ending moments of agony among their parents.

It was gathered that one of the children was sold in Anambra State for N2million before they were rescued by the Police

Change of Name

The children, Sabo Salisu 3 year-old; Isah Abdulkadir 4 year-old, and Nana Khadija Zakariya’u, 6 year-old – who were abducted from Gwallameji, a community in the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis by a woman, who was still at large, having rented an apartment in the neighbourhood of the family residence of her victims in early December, 2024 were sold in Anambra.

The suspect allegedly lured the children after learning that one of them did well in school. She took them from their mothers, promising to buy them toys but never returned with the children.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Muhammad, said the children were rescued through an intelligence network of security operatives in Anambara and Bauchi States.

During the formal handover ceremony at the Council chamber Government House Bauchi, State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Auwal Musa, briefed the Governor on the successful rescue operation.

CP Musa narrated the joint efforts of the Bauchi and Anambra State Police commands, working in close coordination with the Office of the State First Lady Hajiya Aisha Bala Muhammad under the Gender-Based Violence Committee.

Speaking Hajiya Aisha Bala Muhammad commended the Governor for his unwavering support in combating child abuse, abduction, and trafficking in the state.

Muhammad emphasized that Governor Bala’s commitment has been instrumental in the success of various initiatives led by the committee.

Speaking during the handling-over of the children to their parents in Bauchi, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed his deep concern and frustration over the rising cases of child abductions and trafficking in the state. He commended the support of Anambara State governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, which led to the safe rescue of the abducted children.

Governor Bala praised the security agencies, as well as the First Ladies of Bauchi and Anambra States, for their crucial roles in tackling such criminal acts.

Addressing parents, Governor Mohammed urged them to remain vigilant and ensure the proper upbringing and monitoring of their children.

He, however, called on community leaders to supervise and monitor residents in their localities to prevent future occurrences.
