Aviation Minister Keyamo grieves over victims of tragic tanker fire disaster in Delta
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has expressed deep sorrow over a tragic tanker fire disaster in Agbor, Delta State in the Southern part of Nigeria.
The incident which claimed five lives, including a young lady, with several others injured, was described as unfortunate.
In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, Mr. Tunde Moshood, Keyamo conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by the tragedy.
He said: “For the families and individuals who have lost so much, we stand with you during this incredibly challenging time. Our hearts go out to you, and the Federal government is committed to providing the necessary resources and support to help you rebuild and recover.”
“We are deeply grateful for the dedication and courage of our emergency teams. Their efforts significantly mitigated the impact of this tragic event,” he added.
Keyamo also commended the bravery efforts of first responders, firefighters and emergency personnel, whose swift actions, he said helped to contain the fire and save lives.
He, however, reaffirmed the Federal government’s commitment to supporting the affected community in its recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Apart from human lives lost to the accident, the inferno also caused extensive damage to residential and commercial properties.
The disaster occurred when a petrol tanker suffered brake failure, leading to a devastating fire that swept through the community.
