Ex-Air Officer, Wing Commander Aliyu Salihu commends Governor Uba Sani over power intervention in hospitals
Wing Commander Aliyu Salihu (Rtd), now a businessman has commended the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani over his laudable intervention in providing uninterrupted power supply to hospitals in the State, saying, the provision of power is one of the most impressive initiative of his administration.
He stated this in a statement at the backdrop of Solar Power installation at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital by Kaduna State Government which is currently being put to use, thereby putting power challenge to rest.
Salihu said, the initiative of Governor Sani to seize the opportunity of renewable energy which has led to massive installation of Solar Power in hospitals and medical facilities across the three Senatorial flank of the State and other critical facilities in the State was a demonstration of his commitment to advancing the good government which he promised after sworn into office as governor of Kaduna State.
He said, Uba Sani is one of the first Governor in the North to partner with the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, NSIA through its Renewable Investment Platform for Limitless Energy, RIPLE to establish a 2.5MW solar system to support the Teaching Hospital in Kaduna in the Kaduna State University and the Kaduna State Water Corporation, KADSWAC.
According to him, Solar Power installation would be extended to other hospitals and medical facilities to power medical equipment, a development he said, was onerous and novel in the history of Kaduna State, emphasizing that the initiative should extend to other critical government and private facilities in the interest of development of the State.
Aliyu lamented the incessant of national grid which has caused untold hardship to the citizens and the unmitigated disaster to hospital as hospitals could not operate maximally due to total blackout.
He said: “We have been rescued with solar power by Kaduna State Governor, I learned other hospitals and primary health centres would also be supported with solar power due to cost of operating diesel and petrol generators , coupled with non available of grid power in some areas.
“Governor Uba Sani deserves our commendation and I urge his administration to continue this laudable initiatives”, he concluded.
