Polaris Bank appoints Opeke Executive Director
The Board of Directors of Polaris Bank has appointed Mr. Segun Opeke as Executive Director of the Bank.
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has also approved the appointment, according to a statement issued by the Bank which was made available to journalists on Saturday.
It is recalled that Mr. Innocent Ike was earlier appointed as the acting Managing Director of the Bank as part of the Bank’s move to reposition its services to customers.
Mr. Opeke has spent twenty-six years in banking industry with fifteen years in management level.

Until his appointment, Mr. Opeke was head of Lagos Business Directorate where he performed creditably well to the turnaround of the Bank, evidenced by its impressive financial performance recorded in the 2019 financial year.
Polaris Bank which was formerly Skye Bank was intervened by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2016 and Mr Opeke was said to have played a prominent role that helped stabilised the Bank with tremendous achievements.
By this appointment, he is expected to strengthen the Bank’s leadership aspirations in the banking industry, leveraging his wealth of experience and contributing greatly to its ongoing corporate transformation programme.
He had formerly worked with various Banks which includes has FSB International Bank, Prudent Bank and Chartered Bank where he played strategic roles.
Following the emergence of Skye Bank in 2006, Mr Opeke worked as the Bank’s Treasurer and Regional Director for Victoria Island and Ikoyi. He was also the Group Head for Corporate Banking, Aviation and Maritime at various times.
As a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee, he has remained a strong asset for the institution making insightful contributions and bringing real value on board.
Mr Opeke, by this appointment as Executive Director, Lagos Business, will further strengthen the Management and Board in actualizing the Bank’s leadership aspirations.

He has attended several professional, management and leadership programmes in world-class institutions including INSEAD and Euromoney, London.
He is credited with making immense contributions in change management, corporate finance/restructuring and digital transformation.
