Arochukwu-born legislative governance expert, Ambassador Okeke honoured with Nzuko Aro Abuja Leadership Award of Excellence in Community Service
Arochukwu’s pride and Nigeria’s prolific Legislative Governance expert, Amb. Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, was honored with the prestigious Nzuko Aro Abuja Leadership Award of Excellence in Community Service at the 2024 Nzuko Arochukwu Abuja Branch End of Year Ceremony and Awards, which held at the Arts and Cultural Centre, Abuja, on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Amb. Okereke, a renowned policy analyst and community leader, received the award in recognition of his remarkable contributions as Aro’s Cultural Renaissance Ambassador. His relentless work in promoting Aro’s image, coupled with his professionalism, civic leadership, and social impact, has made him a trailblazer for the community.
The award was presented by Mazi Dr. Kanu Ohuche, the Global Secretary-General of Nzuko Aro Worldwide and Chairman of the occasion. Dr. Ohuche praised Amb. Okereke for his unwavering dedication to Aro Kingdom, emphasizing that his efforts have not only uplifted the community but also set a standard of excellence for future generations. He described Amb. Okereke as a role model, inspiring young people within Aro Kingdom and beyond. Dr. Ohuche encouraged him to continue fostering the Aro spirit of development, unity, and progress.
In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Amb. Okereke expressed his profound gratitude to the leadership of Nzuko Aro, Abuja, especially President Mazi Samuel Ogundu, the President of Nzuko Iyom Aro, Abuja, Mrs. Ivuoma Johnson, and Mazi Nkumeh Okoronkwo, the CPC Chairman for the event. He also extended special thanks to His Eminence, Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, the digital Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, for spearheading the cultural and diplomatic renaissance that is fostering unity and prosperity within Aro Kingdom.
Amb. Okereke further acknowledged the support of the Amangwu Development Union (ABU) Abuja branch, led by Mazi Okafor Udoagwu, and expressed his appreciation to the leadership of FAYA Abuja branch for their solidarity.
The event also saw another distinguished Aro son, Mazi Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), honored with the Omu-Aro dignity in public service and leadership award.
Amb. Okereke, who is also the IKEMBA ARO designate, expressed his deep appreciation for the recognition, reaffirming his commitment to continue serving the Aro community and Nigeria at large.
The Nzuko Aro Abuja End of Year Ceremony was a testament to the collective spirit of development, culture, and leadership within Aro Kingdom, as both Amb. Okereke and Mazi Dr. Orji, his amiable wife and several great Aro Sons and Daughters received accolades that celebrate their outstanding contributions to society.
