The Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi has knocked critics of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying it’s jealousy as the ongoing reform will bring the best out of Nigeria.

Umahi said, President Tinubu has a dream of making Nigeria better for the past 25 years when he was a governor and now God has given him the opportunity to serve the country and actualize that dream so he has no choice than to perform.

He stated this on the sideline of his appearance at the investigative hearing by the Senate Committee on Works, noting the fact that the restoration of hope of Mr. President is what everyone is working to actualize, insisting that anyone criticizing this government when reforms are obvious is an enemy of this country.

Speaking on the controversy surrounding the Lagos – Calabar coastal project, Umahi said the criticism is “borne out of envy and jealousy”, that there is nothing done out of context.

According to the Minister “the people that are envying him never believe that he can turn around the economy within this shortest period of time so they are put to shame.

Umahi maintained that “when people stop this suspicion character and digest the coastal road project very well then they will know it’s a catalyst for the growth of every state in this country.

Addressing the diversion of the road, he said “when work got to 16 kilometer we met the African communication cable that came from the ocean and we boycotted it through diversion and connect it back again at kilometer 26 to avoid what happened to us as a country last few years”.

Umahi expressed happiness over interaction with the Senate Committee on Works for supporting the president, adding that they see the good work the president is doing.

Umahi commend the chairman of the committee Senator Mpigi Barinada of People Democratic Party for his endorsement of My president coming 2027.

“It’s very rare for a president to agree to continue the whole project of his predecessor.
