NCPC, States to encourage Pilgrims Saving Schemes
The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission Rev Yakubu Pam has said that the Commission in collaboration with the states Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards would encourage Pilgrims Savings Schemes for intending Pilgrims.
He disclosed this recently in Yola Adamawa State at an interactive session with the members of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Adamawa State Chapter.
Rev.Pam advised stakeholders and intending Pilgrims to cash in on the Pilgrims Savings Scheme of the Commission to save instalmentally for Pilgrimage.
He further admonished every Christian particularly the not too buoyant ones and those who would want to have a life time experience in Israel to consider the Pilgrims Savings Scheme a veritable option to actualise their long life dream of participating in the Holy pilgrimage.
The NCPC boss informed them that NCPC was established purposely for Christians as the only Christian faith based agency that has direct link with the Presidency. He stressed that Pilgrimage to Israel is biblical because it is divine as the Bible has enjoined us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
He urged them to ensure that they sensitise and encourage their members on the importance of embarking on Holy Pilgrimage to Israel.His words” I challenge you today,lets see how we can encourage Pilgrimage in your local churches”.
He averred that the only way Christians benefit from the dividends of democracy is through government sponsorship of their participation in Pilgrimage.He emphasized that Pilgrimage is a spiritual exercise and traveling exposes Pilgrims to new trends in life.
He intimated them that one of the major challenges facing the Commission is the issue of abscondment during Pilgrimage which has made the Commission to introduce stringent measures to discourage it.
In his remarks, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria Adamawa State chapter, Bishop Stephen Mamza thanked the NCPC boss for considering it necessary to visit the CAN secretariat.He promised to work closely with the Commission to move Christian Pilgrimage forward.
The NCPC boss and his team were in Yola on a sensitisation visit to Adamawa State.
