The Police Authority in Minna, Niger State, has arraigned the syndicate that is in the business of issuing fake appointment letters and forged credentials to unsuspecting applicants in Minna Chief Magistrate Court No1.
Mohammed Ndanusa, a staff of Niger State Ministry of Health and Hospital Services was earlier arrested by the operatives of the Special Investigation and Intelligence Bureau (SIIB), of Niger State Police command at the ongoing screening exercise of the Niger State Civil Service.
The Chairman of the State Civil Service screening committee who is also the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Mohammed Ibrahim Panti odered for his arrest at the ongoing screening exercise when he presented a forged credentials and fake appointment letters of the Ministry Health on level 04 staff bearing the name of one Abubakar Aliyu who now enjoy the rank of level 13 which enable him fraudulently embezzled the sum of over five million Naira cash.
Mohammed Ndanusa is standing trial before the Minna Chief Magistrate Court No2 on three count charges which bothers on criminal conspiracy impersonation and forgery.
According to the Police Prosecutor Abdullahi Maiyaki, ASP, the offfences are punishable under section 97,132 and 364 of the penal code.
He was said to have committed the offences during the civil servants screening exercise in Minna when one Mohammed Ibrahim Panti reported the matter to the B Divisional Police Command Paiko Road, in Minna.
“That on the same date at about 100hrs during the Niger State screening exercise, it was discovered some times in the month of April, 2009, that you Mohammed Ndanusa of the Niger State Ministry of Health and Hospital Services forged letter of appointment of level 04 staff in the Ministry of Health bearing the name of Abubakar Aliyu and now in the rank of level 13, which enable you Mohammed Ndanusa to embezzled the ( N5,100,000) Five Million Naira one hundred Thousand.
“On the screening date on 24, August, 2020, you Mohammed Ndanusa, forged credentials and conspired with your younger brother Tanimu Ndanusa, of Barking Sale area of Minna, (now at large), and appear on the screening exercise to claim the appointment letter and you were caught instantly. During police investigation, you both confessed to the crime”
When the charge was read to him by the presiding chief Magistrate Hajiya Hauwa Baba Yusuf, he pleaded not guilty to some of the charges while he admitted part of the charges.
At this point, the police prosecutor Abdullahi Maiyaki ASP told the court that the police are yet to complete investigation into the matter and he requested the court to remand him at the Correctional Centre to enable the police to continue with investigation.
While granting the request of the prosecutor, Hajiya Hauwa Baba then ordered for his remand in correctional facility and adjougned the case to 15, of October 2020 for further mention.
