Kano: DSS arrests activist over Facebook related post
Simply identified as Zubair, who is a Kano-based human rights activitist has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, in the early hours of Thursday in Kano.
The activities is an organizer of the pro-democracy group Take-It-Back Movement, TIB in Kano State and has been opposing some policies of government, particularly his home state of Kano.
Though the secret police was yet to reveal reasons he was arrested, sources close to is family said, he was arrested in connection with a post on Facebook to critical government of the day.
Another group based in Kano who are familiar with activities of activisit Zubair alleged that he has been flown to Abuja and has demanded his immediate and unconditional release, citing concerns over freedom of expression.
“TIB organizer in Kano, Zubair, was arrested by the DSS earlier today. The reason for his arrest remains unknown. But sources informed it was connected with a Facebook post critical of the government,” the group stated on its social media platforms.
