Plateau gov’t denies claims it withheld funds donated to IDPs
The Plateau State Government has responded to allegations made by Bolaji Adeyemi, dismissing claims of withholding funds meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) donated by Her Excellency Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, expressed strong disagreement with the false allegations, citing documentary evidence that contradicts these claims.
Hon. Ashoms emphasized Governor Mutfwang administration commitment to transparency, pointing out that the publication of beneficiaries’ names demonstrates fairness and debunks claims of favoritism towards politicians.
The Commissioner urged Bolaji Adeyemi to verify information through credible sources to avoid perpetuating misinformation, saying the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability remains unwavering.
“I am writing to express my strong disagreement with the false allegations made against our state by one Bolaji Akinyemi. The claims of withholding funds from beneficiaries are entirely unfounded and contradicted by documentary evidence.
“The article made serious allegations against our state falsely claiming that we withheld funds meant for Internally Displaced Persons donated by the wife of the President Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Oluremi Tinubu. We take these accusations seriously and would like to set the record straight.
“The publication of names demonstrates transparency, debunking claims of favoritism towards politicians. The governor’s directive for beneficiaries to open bank accounts ensured direct deposits, resolving the issue over a year ago. What’s behind Bolaji’s baseless accusations, and why revive a settled matter?”
“Where was Bolaji and his co-travellers when the Governor His Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang mobilized tractors to cultivate 900 hectares for our displaced people in 2023, is Bolaji and his cohorts feigning ignorance of the 6000 hectares of land that was cultivated for our people pro bono in 2024?
