62.2% PVCs collected in Ondo – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that 62.2 percent of Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, were collected during a five-day exercise in Ondo State.
The exercise, which took place from October 17 to 21, 2024, made the cards available for collection across all 203 wards in the state.
In a statement by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, INEC revealed that a total of 55,859 PVCs were collected by new registrants, as well as those seeking transfers or replacements of lost or damaged cards.
“This figure represents 62.2% of the 89,777 cards available for collection. It is the highest percentage of PVCs collected in five days in Ondo State since the Commission introduced the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in 2015,” Olumekun said.
INEC also noted that a detailed breakdown of the collection by Local Government Areas (LGAs) has been made available on its website and social media platforms for public information.
“A detailed breakdown of the collection by Local Government Areas (LGAs) has been uploaded to our website and social media platforms for public information,” the statement read.
As the next phase of the collection begins, Olumekun announced that voters can continue to pick up their PVCs at the Commission’s LGA offices across the state from Wednesday, October 23, to Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
“The collection will resume in our 18 LGA offices in Ondo State from tomorrow, Wednesday 23rd to Tuesday 29th October 2024, from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily, including the weekend,” he stated.
INEC urged voters who have yet to collect their PVCs to do so in person, reiterating that no third-party collection is allowed.
“We appeal to the remaining voters to pick up their PVCs in person from our LGA offices. The Commission reiterates its policy that no cards will be collected by proxy,” Olumekun emphasized.
INEC advised the public to visit its website for more information regarding the locations of its LGA offices across Ondo State.
