Niger Chief Judge reiterates commitment to upholding ideals of justice in State

The Chief Judge Of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik has said that the Judiciary under her leadership will continue to uphold rules as a framework for ensuring fairness, accountability and equity.

She stated that the Judiciary in Niger State stands ready to uphold these ideals,and its corridors will echo with the principles of justice.

Change of Name

Speaking at the official commissioning of newly constructed Lapai High court Thursday, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik posited that Judiciary as the Almighty’s vicegerents on earth ” we are entrusted with the sacred responsibility to ensure that every person, regardless of their background or status has equal access to Justice”.

According to the Chief Judge,the construction of the court, is more than the expansion of the state Judiciary infrastructure, adding that it symbolize ” our commitment to upholding the rights and freedoms of every person in our community. A functional and accessible Judiciary is essential in the promotion of peace,order, security and stability of our nation”.

She was optimistic that the court will serve as guardian of justice,a beacon of hope, and a platform where the voice of the oppressed will be heard.

She disclosed that the project was executed through direct labor explaining that the total amount appropriated for the project in the 2024 appropriation law, is the sum of One hundred million naira for the structure only..
However, according to the Chief Judge, with the prudent spendings and commitment of the members of the resident Due process team, a conservative sum of eighty three million,three hundred and twelve thousand ,eight hundred,and eighty naira (N83,312,880) only was expended in the entire project including the fencing, furnishing and landscaping.

“As we look to the future, and our readiness to carry out direct Labour which is more efficient and cost saving, it is imperative that we equip the resident Due process team with the tools they need to perform their duties effectively.

“One pressing need that must be addressed is the Provision of a project vehicle for the Due process team, this vehicle will not only facilitate transportation to and from the construction sites,but will also ease transportation of goods and materials needed at the site” the chief judge opined.

She then requested the governor of Niger State,Farmer governor Umar Mohammed Bago to consider prioritizing the procurement of a toyota Hilux as a project vehicle for the resident Due process team of the High court of Justice Minna.

Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik then charged the people of Lapai community to engage with the state Judiciary to Understand their rights and to seek justice when needed noting that, ” our society thrives better when our people are empowered,informed and when they actively participate in the Judicial process”.

Speaking earlier,the Registrar of the Niger State Judiciary, Hajiya Amina Lamide Musa Saidu, commended the governor of Niger State Mohammed Umar Bago whose leadership transformed the remarkable achievement recorded in the construction of the edifice.

She disclosed that his administration has demonstrated an admirable dedication towards improving the administration of justice stating that the construction of the court is another testament to the governor’s commitment in ensuring the mutual working relationship with the Judiciary.

Hajiya Amina Lamide Musa, applauded the Chief judge for her leadership quality which she described as a guiding light that brought tremendous progress in enhancing Judicial infrastructure and administration.
