INEC to test BVAS in 12 Ondo polling units
Ahead of the November 16, 2024, Ondo State Governorship Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise to test the deployment of the Bimodal Voter
Accreditation System ,BVAS, and the result upload process to the INEC Result Viewing, IReV, portal.
The exercise, which is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, 2024, will take place in 12 polling units across six local government areas (LGAs) in the state, covering the three senatorial districts.
In Ondo Central Senatorial District, the selected polling units are located in Akure South and Idanre LGAs, while in Ondo North Senatorial District, the exercise will hold in Owo and Akoko South West LGAs. For Ondo South Senatorial District, the selected LGAs are Odigbo and Okitipupa.
INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, disclosed in a press statement that the mock accreditation is part of preparations to ensure a seamless election process. He urged registered voters in the selected polling units to come out with their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to participate in the exercise.
The Commission reiterated that only registered voters from the designated polling units would be allowed to participate, stressing that no voter from other polling units would be accredited by the BVAS during the mock exercise. The exercise will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
INEC assured the public that detailed information, including the names and locations of the centres, has been uploaded to its website and social media platforms for easy access.
