Forum backs Tinubu’s economic reforms
The North-East Stakeholders Forum has expressed confidence in the Tinubu administration’s approach to Nigeria’s economic challenges, stating that the government is now actively working to heal the country’s economic wounds.
Speaking at a world press conference held at the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters in Abuja, the forum’s Chairman, Comrade Haruna Sardauna, emphasized the administration’s efforts to address underlying issues rather than offer temporary solutions.
According to Sardauna, the current government is taking steps to not only expose deep-rooted economic problems but also to begin the healing process in earnest. He noted that this approach marks a departure from the previous administrations’ measures, which he described as mere surface treatments that provided temporary relief without addressing the root causes.
The forum’s chairman expressed optimism that Tinubu’s administration would offer more sustainable solutions, aiming to fully heal the nation’s economic wounds rather than apply short-term remedies.
“We found ourselves at a dizzying crossroads, where we must choose between two paths. Reform for progress and prosperity or carry on business as usual and collapse.
“We decided to reform our political economy and defense architecture.
Comrade Sardauna highlighted some of the economic measures taken by the administration, which included reduction of debt service ratio as well as removal of importation taxes on food items.
Others, according to him, include achievements in the education sector and Youths empowerment, infrastructure development, energy and transportation as well as boosting agriculture and food security.
Sardauna observed that these bold measures would greatly alleviate poverty and promote economic growth for the country.
