Governor, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has on Saturday reaffirmed the significance of peace, unity, love and togetherness among the people of the state.
He made affirmation at the reception organized in honour of his wife, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule and the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu after they were conferred with traditional titles by the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bagel (Rtd).
“Let me calle on all of us to embrace peace, unity above all to continue to live in peace with our neighbours.
“It was because of the prevailing atmosphere of peace that guests were able to come together to share in the joy of the celebrants.
“It’s important for the people of Nasarawa State to continue to live in peace with one another, to continue to respect our elders and to continue to respect our leaders,” Engineer Sule said.
He used the occasion to thank, the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), for the honour done to his wife and the wife of the IGP with the new titles.
“Let me call on the celebrants to consider their elevation as a call to serve the people like those before them who served the people diligently.
In her remark wife of the immediate past governor of the state, Hajiya Salamatu Al-makura, wished the celebrants God’s guidance and protection as they assume their new roles.
In her welcome speech, the first female Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr. Zainab Ahmed, said the event was put in place in honour of the two celebrants that were earlier on elevated by the Emir of Lafia.
Dr. Zainab pointed out that the high number of women that turned out to witness the event, is a clear testimony that women in state are united and will always come together for a purpose.
The Late Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall inside the Government House was filled to capacity as family members, friends, colleagues, associates and well-wishers, turn out in large numbers, to join the two celebrants as they celebrate their new titles.
CAPITAL POST reports that, the wife of Sule and that of the IGP were both turbaned “Giwan Matan Nasarawa” and “ Hasken Matan Nasarawa” respectively by the Emir of Lafia.
Performing the ceremony, HRH Justice Sidi Bage, said the conferment was in recognition of their contributions to the wellbeing of women.
Those that graced the occasion include, the wife of the Governor, Hajiya Farida Sule, wife of the State Deputy Governor, wives of former governors, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Umaru Al-makura among other dignitaries.
