Flood: Zulum constitutes Committee to disburse over N12 billion lists EFCC, DSS, as members

A Committee to disburse over N12 billion fund donated to Borno State government by well meaning citizens in the aftermath of flood disaster has been constituted by governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The donation includes relief materials and other items meant for victims of flood devastation.

This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Bukar Tijjani, stating that the Committee membership includes operatives of the Department of State Security, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and others in order to ensure transparency in the distribution of the fund.

The statement revealed the names as: Engr. Baba Bukar Gujubawu, Special Adviser Monitoring/Evaluation (Chairman), Prof. Ibrahim Umara, University of Maiduguri (Co-Chairman), representatives of EFCC (member), ICPC (member), Nigeria Police (member), Nigerian Army (member), DSS (member) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC (member).

Other committee members are representatives of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Ministry of Sport Development, Youth Development and Poverty Alleviation, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Finance, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Borno State Environmental Protection Agency (BOSEPA).

Civil Society Organisations, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), development and humanitarian and His Royal Highest, Shehu of Borno partners are also represented in the committee.

The governor urged the Committee members to approach their responsibilities with dedication and transparency, emphasising the importance of their work for the affected communities, adding that the State Government would flag off the distribution of fund and others relief materials on Tuesday.
