Gov. Idris condoles with Yauri Emirate, family of man killed by hippopotamus
The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has condoled with Yauri Emirate and the family members of a man, Malam Usman Mai-Gadi, killed by a hippopotamus at Tillo village in Yauri Local Government Areas of the state.
The governor urged the emirate and members of the immediate family to take heart and accept the will of God Almighty in good faith.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
Malam Usman was buried according Islamic rites in Yauri after a funeral prayer, which was attended by Yauri Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Abubakar Shu’aibu.
According to reports, the deceased, a security man (Mai gadi) of Orchard Farms owned by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Yauri, Dr Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi met his death when the hippopotamus attacked him while fishing.
It was gathered that the dangerous animal perceived the man as an endangered specie, who intentionally came to harm its baby, hence the attack against him in self defense.
