Women are worst casualties of devastating ethnic, tribal conflict in any society – Dr. Orabueze

The Chief of Staff to the Biafra Republic Government in Exile and Defacto Government under the Prime Minister, Simon Ekpa, Dr. Ngozi Orabueze said, women have been the worst casualties of ethnic and tribal conflicts any where in the society.

In a statement which she issued and sent to CAPITAL POST on Friday in Abuja, Dr Orabueze submitted that peace wasn’t the absence of war, but the presence of justice, hence, the need for justice for the innocent lives lost and for the marginalised Briafrans.

She was quoted to have stated this at
the 2024 HWPL/International Women’s Peace Conference in South Korea.

The statement read: “The ultimate recipients of the devastating consequences of ethnic and tribal crisis and conflicts in any given society remain the women.

“Peace is indeed not the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice; justice for the innocent lives lost, justice for the indigenous Nigerians displaced, and justice for the marginalized Biafrans.

“At the 2024 HWPL/ International Women’s Peace Conference in South Korea, the Chief of Staff to the Biafra Republic Government in Exile and Defacto Government under Prime Minister Simon Ekpa, Dr. Ngozi Orabueze maintained that the role of women in the attainment of peace in any society can not be over-emphasised.”

In her speech, which was streamed to over 160 member countries across the globe during the international, HWPL/IWPG Conference, Dr. Orabueze emphasized the vital role women play in peace building.

She described women as the bedrock of any society with great skills in building, understanding, nurturing virtues on patience and social harmony.

The attention of the global community was called to the continuous subjugation of Biafrans in Nigeria, through the means of brute military force by the Nigerian government resulting in extrajudicial killings of innocent people in the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.

The pains that come with wars are always better imagined hence, the urgent call for strict observation of inalienable rights of individuals and group of individuals, especially their fundamental right to self-determination.

She called for an end to the ongoing cruelty, killings, forceful occupation, and confrontation and advocates for compassion, peace, and dialogue.

Recall that the Biafra Republic government in Exile and Defacto Homeland has successfully carried out a Referendum where over 50 million Biafrans have voted to exit Nigeria.

This just concluded Referendum will culminate in the declaration of the United States of Biafra in Finland on December 2nd, 2024.
