FIDA to partner Centre for Democracy to fight violence against women

The Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Niger State said, it will partner with the Campaign For Democracy (CD), to fight violence against gender related cases in the State.

The Niger State chairperson of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Hajiya Safurat Abdulkarim stated this while receiving the State executive officer of the Campaign For Democracy led by the state Chairman Comrade Abdullahi Mohammed Jabi in her office in Minna.

Change of Name

She explained that FIDA as gender based non governmental organization saddled with the responsibilities of the protection of the right of women children and girls child will continue to partner with the Campaign For Democracy in ensuring the protection of all forms of gender related vices against women and girl child in the state.

According to Hajiya Safurat Abdulkarim, the increasing rates of violence against women,girl child Particularly child molestation and sexual molestation has taken a worrisome dimensions in the state assuring that FIDA in Niger State will continue to go after the violators.


The FIDA Chairperson who is also a Chief Magistrate in the Niger State Judiciary posited that the Federation of Women Lawyers in Niger State, will continue to partner with relevant Non Governmental Organization (NGOs) of like minds in the fight against all forms of vices that is inimical to the right of women, girls child molestation, among other gender related vices in the state.

While commending the Niger State chapter of the Campaign For Democracy (CD) for extending their partnaship with FIDA in Niger state to bring an end to the increasing Proportion of gender related cases in the state, Hajiya Safurat urged the Niger State chapter of CD to embark on Public enlightenment and sensitizing campaign to inform the women Particularly the vulnerables on the need for them to raise their voice against all forms of gender based violence.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman Campaign for Democracy (CD), in Niger State Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed Jabi, applauded the Niger State Chapter of FIDA for affording the CD opportunity to interface with them and share common Prosperity Particularly as it relates to the professional body like FIDA Niger State chapter to work together for the common good of Humanity Particularly women and children rights been abused and violated by individuals, corporate bodies and the state.

He explained that the Campaign For Democracy Human Right Advocacy Civil society of Nigeria have its mandates and objectives cut out as contain in its constitution to Savage most the ills affecting gender based issues using Advocacy, Awareness and Public Enlightenment, holding town hall meeting to educate the populace public lecture and training program on Women and youths on capacity building among others.

This according to him is to Empower them to be more productive and live useful lives of Empowerment, socio- Economically,” finding a FIDA partner to work with shall go a long way in transforming the status of women and girls-child in Nigeria.”

He pointed out that this development informed the basis for partnership and collaboration as Campaign For Democracy stands for the protection of people’s right from being abused by the agents of the state.

Speaking further, Dr Abdullahi Jabi, this agitations funded and Sustain by the Campaign For Democracy, NADECO among other Organizations see to the establishment and conduct of election in Nigeria in 1999 by former military head of state General Abdulsalam Abubakar which usher in the 4th Republic in an election declared by INEC in favor of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate General Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999.

He then assured Niger State chapter of FIDA of the sustainable partnership and collaboration for the good of Humanity in Niger State and Nigeria, requesting the leadership of FIDA for invitation for their activities always.
