Police raid criminal hideout in Akwa Ibom, arrests six
Operatives of Nigeria Police have raided a criminal hideout in Afaha Offiong community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Council of Akwa Ibom State and arrested six criminals.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Office in the Command, ASP Timfon John in Uyo and made avaialable journalists on Monday, said, two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, substances suspected to be cocaine and some Cocktail concoctions were recovered during the raid.
The PPRO revealed names of suspects as Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its sustained efforts towards making the state safe, secure and uncomfortable for criminals, has raided a criminal hideout in Afaha Offiong community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
“The raid was carried out by the command’s operatives who acted following directives of the Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, upon intelligence report available at its disposal about the nefarious activities in a section of the community.
“Upon mobilisation of operatives to the community, the efforts yielded quick results leading to the arrest of six male persons suspected to be cultists and drug dealers, namely Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.
“Operatives also recovered two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, substances suspected to be cocaine and some Cocktail concoctions.
“An investigation is ongoing as efforts are in place to arrest fleeing members of the syndicate” the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police assured Akwa Ibom people of their commitment to riding the State of criminal elements.
