BREAKING: Appeal Court upholds Asue Ighodalo as Edo PDP governorship candidate

Dr. Asue Ighodalu has been affirmed as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo State by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja.

The Appeal Court set aside the Federal High Court, Abuja judgement that nullified his candidacy.

On Monday a 3-member panel of justices submitted that the Federal High Court president by Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo erred in law by removing Asue Ighodalu in his judgement on July 4, 2024. The justices said, the lower court lack jurisdiction to entertain the suit of the aggrieved delegates in the first place.

The Appellate Court further maintained that the litigants have no locus standi to sue the PDP governorship ccandidate in the first place, given that it was the responsibility of PDP to select its preferred candidate ahead of September 21, 2024 governorship election.
