BREAKING: Supreme Court declares Ododo winner of Kogi governorship election

The Supreme Court has affirmed Kogi State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo as winner of November 1th 2023 governorship election.

The five panel of justices read the judgement on Friday and declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC won the election.

The governorship election was disputed by the Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate, Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka who believed that the exercise was marred with irregularities and outright rigging approached the Election Petition Tribunal.

The case progressed from the Tribunal to the Supreme Court unfavourably to the SDP.

The panelists on Friday submitted that the appeal by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and candidate Yakubu Muritala Ajaka, marked: SC/CV/654/2024 was without merit.

The case was dismissed.

Justice Sadiq Umar, who authored and read the lead judgment resolved all the three issues identified for determination in the appeal against the appellants.
