The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a seven man caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the party in Benue State.

This is as the party dissolved the former party excos in the state.

The event took place at the headquarters of the party in Abuja after a closed door meeting with the APC National Working Committee (NWC), Wednesday evening.

The members of the committee are; Hon Benjamin Omale, who will serve as the chairman. Prof. Ben Angwe will serve as the secretary.

Other members of the commitee are: Hon. Richard Mzungweve, James Ornguga, Barr. Terhemen Ngbea, Helen Agaigbe, Barr. Ali Francis Adah.

Addressing the Commitee members, Ganduje said the party in the state have been suffering from setbacks as a result of factions, counter factions and counter litigation. He emphasized that the party leadership cannot continue to allow such to continue.

According to him, “The party is an institution, you must be united. So in order to solve the problem, we followed our Constitution and therefore the National Working Committee has today dissolved the Executive Committee and at the same time, the National Working Committee has approved the constitution of a seven-man Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the party for the next six months”.

The Caretaker Committee members are expected to conduct the upcoming Local Government election in the state.

“Since you are going for local government election, and the party is the only organ that can certify candidature of any contestant, therefore you are saddled with the responsibility of conducting primaries for those who intend to become chairmen and councilors of their local government areas.

“We urge you to unite, continue dialogue with major stakeholders, bring people together so you work together”, he added.

Responding, the Chairman of the Benue APC Caretaker Committee, Benjamin Omale appreciated the party for finding members of the committee worthy to handle the party affairs in the state.

He also expressed commitment to restore peace to the party in Benue State.

Meanwhile, the embattled state chairman, Austin Agada earlier stormed the party headquarters, displaying a Benue High Court order barring the APC from removing him as the chairman of the party in the state.

A copy of the order via an exparte order granted by Justice Theresa Igoche in motion no MH /1585m/2024, was made available to newsmen.

The court particularly directed the Dr Abdullahi Umar Gandujeled National Working Committee (NWC) not to remove Hon. Austin Agada-led State Working Committee until the expiration of their 4 years tenure.
