Police reveals tackling ‘Badoo rituals’, seeks collective effort in ending ritual killings

The Nigeria Police has called for collaborative effort in tackling the menace of ritual killings in Nigeria.

The Police called on monarchs, community leaders and every other persons to assist saying ritual killings have been on the rise and police cannot lonely combat the crime, hence, good spirited citizens should get involved.

According to the police, it was the collaborate effort that brought about the regn of the dreaded ‘Badoo rituals’ in Ikorodu community of Lagos State, emphasizing that if there was effort by the monarchs and community leaders as the Police and other security agents strives to tackle human killings in guise of rituals, the menace will be put to rest.

Speaking through his verified X.com handle on Thursday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that traditional institutions and community leaders should get involved in tackling the menace of ritual killings.

Adejobi condemned the rate of ritual killings and insisted that the trend must not continue, hence, it requires effort of all Nigerians to get over it.

The FPRO made reference to the successful collaboration with traditional institutions in combating the Badoo rituals in Ikorodu, Lagos, saying ritual killings was a spiritual force rather than legal, and there should be a holistic approach to ending it.

“We adopted a similar approach when we were to tackle Badoo rituals in Ikorodu, Lagos. We can’t apparently curb it if the traditional institution is not interested or involved. It’s more spiritual than legal or physical.

“The police and law enforcement agencies in these areas and the states must incorporate the leaders and the traditional institutions into the fight to curb it.”
