Hunger protesters stole documents critical to prosecuting Ganduje corruption case – Kano govt

Kano State government has disclosed that #Hunger/EndBadGovernance protesters stormed the State Customary Court and stole documents critical to the prosecution of the former governor of the State and current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The authority said, the documents are concerned with the ongoing corruption prosecution of Ganduje.

Change of Name

It was recalled Kano State government sued the former governor, his wife Hafsat, their son Umar Abdullahi and five other persons with eight count charge of alleged misappropriation and diversion of funds when Ganduje ruled the State for eight years.

Authorities however, claimed that protesters deliberately stormed the customary court during the protest recently and stole documents relating to the prosecution.

The State government said, protesters created an atmosphere of confusion and crisis before they invaded the Court to steal corruption documents and other critical documents from the Court, particularly as security men on duty at the Court premises sighted the massive crowd and ran away for their dear life.

The state government has expressed deep concern over the incident and is reportedly taking steps to recover the missing documents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
