A member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Hon. Salman Idris representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, ADC.
The defected lawmaker in the House of Representatives in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas which was read on during a plenary on Tuesday, said, his defection followed a careful consultation with critical stakeholders in the Federal Constituency and his supporters.
He said, his movement from his former political party to the APC would make his constituency to align with government at the centre where their collective political values will be accommodated.
The letter reads: “I wish to formally notify The Rt. Honourable Speaker and respected colleagues due to the National Leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress. I have resolved, after careful consideration and consultation with critical stakeholders, political associates, and constituents in Kabba-Bunu/ljumu Federal Constituency and Kogi State at large to move from The African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) with immediate effect.
“As a true representative of the people, I believe that this defection has become exigent owing to the increased call from my constituents to align myself with the political party that will best accommodate our collective political values and principles.”
