Civil Defence deploys squad to farmlands across Niger State to protect farmers
The Agro rangers squad of the Niger State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), is prepared to partner with governor Umar Mohammed Bago agricultural developmental strides, the Commandant of the Corp in the state, Mr Joachim Okafor has assured.
He explained that the Command has already deployed a total of one hundred operatives of the squad from the command to all farms across the state.
He stated that With the purchase of ten operational vehicles to the Command by the state governor, the Agro rangers of the command will ensure the security and safety of the farmers.
Speaking in an interview with Journalists in his office in Minna, Commandant Joachim Okafor said the command has the mandate of the Commandant General of the Corp Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi to ensure the protection of critical National installations across the country.
According to the state Commandant of the Corp,the operatives of the ranger in the state will continue to ensure the protection of all farms and other critical National assets in the state adding that the corps will make the state inhabitable for criminally minded elements in the state.
Explaining that based on the readiness to act on the commandant general, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, matching order of intensifying surveillance and security watch over all critical national assets and Infrastructures across the country.
Joachim Okafor told Journalists that the intelligence squad of the command received credible intelligence Information on the 13th of July, 2024 on the illegal activities of some vandals in one compound along eastern bypass ” on getting to the place they were shocked with the quantities and uncertain number of meters of vandalized high tension aluminum cables and railways tracks”
” This is happening at a time when the government is battling to put the railway transportation system inorder for effective movement of goods and services and to improve in constant distribution of electricity supply across the Nation the men of the underworld continue to vandalize these projects” he wondered.
This according to him are economic and developmental sabotages that would not be accepted by the command.
He warned that his command will continue in its readiness to never relent on making the state unsafe for them, insisting that his operatives will continue to chase them out of Niger state.
While appreciating governor Mohammed Umar Bago for supporting the command with the provision of sport utility vehicles (SUV), for the state Commandant, ten operational Hilux vans to the Agro rangers for agricultural security and ten operational vehicles for the state command’s operations, Joachim noted that “with the Provision of the vehicle our operations efficiency has been motivated and we will never disappoint you”.
