The Plateau Concerned APC Youths have expressed their disappointment and frustration with the ruling PDP government in the state, accusing it of ridiculing and marginalizing the APC despite its victory at the federal level.

At a press conference in Jos, tgroup’s coordinator, Hon. Gwalson Mutshak, lamented that the APC’s defeat in the state election has led to a situation where the party is being “mocked and ridiculed” by the PDP, which has flagrantly violated the constitution and disrespected the rule of law.

Mutshak cited the example of the governor’s refusal to accept the verdict of the election petition tribunal and his insistence that APC members write an undated letter of resignation before being sworn in.

“Regrettably the APC which holds the ace at the centre has been living politically at the mercy of the PDP to the extent that the APC supporters are denied even palliatives and other forms of social interventions sent to the State by the Federal government. This untoward attitude of the Plateau State government has painfully resonated with the APC and made them look like political orphans in the Country.

He described this action as “autocratic, unheard of, and defying all sense of responsibility, democratic norms, and political decency.”

The group also expressed concern that the APC’s lack of representation at the federal level has left its supporters in the state feeling like “political orphans,” denied even palliatives and social interventions sent by the federal government.

They appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint a minister from Plateau State to represent the state at the Federal Executive Council and to save the party from further embarrassment and ridicule.

“We appeal to Mr President to appoint a Minister from Plateau State. This is to also allow us have a representation at the Federal executive Council. Mr President should save us from further embarrassment and ridicule by the PDP supporters who constantly delight in making caricature of use for aligning with the Muslim – Muslim ticket”.

The Plateau Concerned APC Youths also expressed concerned an about the ongoing tensions and power struggles between the APC and PDP in Plateau State, and the implications for democracy and governance in the state.
