Saint Academy Tragedy: Coalition calls for collaboration to prevent future building collapse

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has called on the state government, stakeholders, and relevant organizations to collaborate in the rescue mission and investigation into the collapse of a two-story building at Saint Academy Jos, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives and injuries.

The Plateau State Coordinator, comrade Bason Yohanna who visited Saint Academy school building collapse described the incident as “unfortunate and avoidable” and urged government agencies responsible for approving building plans and structures to ensure compliance with safety standards to prevent such tragedies in the future.

The group commended Governor Mutfwang and the state government for their prompt response to the emergency and called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the collapse.

The CNG also extended its condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured.

“The CNG calls on the state government, Ministry of Education, Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), and the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Town Planning to collaborate and ensure that schools in the state have a convenient, safe, and healthy learning environment.”
