BREAKING: Ex-Senate President, Joseph Waya’s body arrives Nigeria 3 years after
After 3 years he died in a United Kingdom hospital, the body of the former Senate president in the Second Republic, Joseph Wayas has arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
His remains arrived on Wednesday and were received by politicians and family members from Cross Rivers State including Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Jarigbe Agom; Hon. Peter Akpanke; kinsmen, and other stakeholders.
His remains were immediately lodged at the morgue of the National Hospital, Abuja after proceeded from the airport.
The lawmaker in the upper legislative Chamber praised Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu for putting controversy surrounding the body of the late political leader to rest by offsetting bills before the remains were released to be brought home for burial.
Hon. Akpanke and the family members of the late former two-time Senate President, were full of praises for Cross River State governor for his spirited efforts in facilitating the transportation of Wayas’ remains to Nigeria.
They also commended the efforts of the Convener of the Who is Who Forum of Cross River North, Papa Dorn Cklaimz Enamhe and his Co-convener, Mr Johnny Agim, SAN, in mobilising Cross Riverians and Nigerians to ensure the successful return of the remains of the former Senate President.
The late Wayas was Senate President between 1979 and 1983 and hailed from Cross River State.
