Some governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have said the economic hardship currently experienced in the country is a global economic problem and not the fault of the President Tinubu-led administration.
The governors under the umbrella of Progressives Congress Forum (PGF) made the assertion during a courtesy visit to the party national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Monday.
The governors who visited the national chairman were; Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Governor of Cross Rivers state, Eno Bassey; Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji.
Speaking, the PGF Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodimma said the ruling party under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done well since assumption in office and must be commended.
He said, “the truth of the matter is that the APC has done very well in Nigeria. What is happening currently, is a global economic problem.
“We in Nigeria under our own leadership, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is also bringing out policies to ensure, given the kind of economy he met, given the kind of situation he saw when he came, he has started the treatment and by the grace of God, I am very confident that very soon Nigerians will be jubilant about how he has managed to navigate the waters”.
Also, the governors vowed to reclaim Edo for the party in the upcoming governorship election in the state.
“I speak on behalf of my colleagues, 20 governors; a party like APC that is in control of 20 states out of 36 and also has produced a president and members of the Federal Executive Council as the majority party and if election is the game of numbers, it means the majority will win”, Uzodimma said.
On his part, Dr. Ganduje said the party will do all it can to ensure that the governors of the party stay united.
