NNPP NEC dissolves NWC, affirms Kwankwaso’s expulsion

The National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has affirmed the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by Mr Ajuji Ahmed and Mr Dipo Olayokun, who served as Acting National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.

NNPP NEC also confirmed the expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and six-month suspension for the Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. It adopted Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major and Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday as the National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.

The party’s resolution was contained in a communique signed by Umar Jibril and Omolara Johnson following the NEC meeting held on May 27, 2024.

According to the party’s NEC, the NWC, led by Ahmed and Olayokun, was found to be aligned with Governor Yusuf of Kano State and the party’s national leader, Senator Kwankwaso.

The party stated that the Board of Trustees’ decision to address the misconduct of the National Officers was in line with the party’s Constitution.

The NNPP however urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to as a matter of urgency update the record of the Party to reflect the emergence of the new leadership of the National Working Committee (NWC).

The communique read in part, “The Decision of the Board of Trustees to call to order the erring National Officers of the Party was in accordance with the Constitution of the Party and the dissolution of the NWC led by Mr. Ajuji and Mr. Dipo Olayokun as Acting National Chairman and National Secretary was unanimously upheld.

“The appointment of Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major and Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday as the National Chairman and National Secretary was confirmed and unanimously adopted.

“The recommendations of the Fact Finding Committee (FFC) and The Conflict Resolution Committee (CRC) on the Continuation of the Six Months Suspension of Gov. Abah Yusuf of Kano State and Expulsion of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) were unanimously affirmed.

“That Independent National Electoral Commission INEC should as a matter of urgency update the record of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to reflect the emergence of The Leadership of National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major as National Chairman and Comrade Oginni Olapos Sunday as the National Secretary.

“The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) should be supported with all necessary information and Documents on The Petition against Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Alhaji Kawu, Mr.Ajuji Buba Gatadima, Dipo Olayokun and the defunct NWC on the N2 SBillion Nominations fee and Camping Fund Fraud”.
