BREAKING: Protest rocks NLNG Train 7 Gas plant

Workers of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Train 7 Gas Plant Construction Project in the early hours of Tuesday hit the road leading to the multimillion dollar construction site in protest over injustice meted to them by the management of the project.

The project which is located in Bonny Local Government Council of Rivers State was completely blocked by the angry workers. A worker who spoke with CAPITAL POST on the scene of the protest decried the high handedness of the management and explained how citizens working on the construction site have been enslaved.

The project was that of the LNG, but is being handled by DAEWOO and SAIPEM, which are both foreign based contractors.

The protesters expressed grievances that they are being shortchanged in payment of salaries and allowances contrary to what was agreed by the Company and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
