IDF drone strike kills Hamas weapons supplier Ayman Ratma
The organization Jamaa Islamiya, a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, has been involved in several attacks against Israel since the beginning of the war.
An IDF drone carried out a targeted attack on a vehicle carrying Hamas’s Lebanon supplies director, Ayman Ratma, in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon on Saturday, the military reported.
The IDF later confirmed that it had struck Lebanon to eliminate Ratma, who helped to direct weapons supplies for Hamas and Jamaa Islamiya in Lebanon.
The army said that he was killed due to his involvement in terrorism against Israel, as well as for planning future attacks against Israeli civilians.
Jamaa Islamiya
The organization Jamaa Islamiya, a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, has been involved in several attacks against Israel since the beginning of the war. Several of its people have been killed in recent months in IAF attacks.
In May, the IDF killed a senior commander of Jamaa Islamiya in Lebanon, Shurahbil Ali Alsayed. He was killed in the area of Majdal Anjar in southern Lebanon.
The Bekaa Valley is located in eastern Lebanon on the border of Syria. Hezbollah concentrates all its strategic assets in the Bekaa Valley, which is far from the border of Israel.
The IDF has be active in the area recently. Earlier in June, seven different targets were attacked on the Israeli-
Syrian border, according to Lebanese reports. One of the attacks was reported to have been in the Bekaa Valley and targeted a strategic asset for Hezbollah linked to the organization’s clerical domain.
