Thugs who worked for the immediate past government of Yahaya Bello gang raped a 17-year old Senior Secondary Student, SSS 2 of Ajaka Community Secondary School, Ajaka in Kogi East Senatorial District.

The incident which occurred on 18th May, 2024 has been reported to the Police Station at Ajaka and has been under investigation, even as one culprit who was identified as
Achuba Alaji has been arrested and two others, whose names are Destiny Monday and Jeremiah Daniel are still at large.

Ajaka is the headquarter of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Council.

According to sources, the victim, Miss Ede Ojomaje was on errand to her elder sister within the same neighbourhood at about 8.00pm having been sent by her patent, and the gangsters abducted and dragged her into a Secondary School room before forcefully having a canal knowledge of her.

A community leader who craved anonymity told CAPITAL POST that the rapists are notorious thugs who worked for the past administration of Yahaya Bello and described them as criminals who lacked home training. He rained curses on them and prayed to God to arrest two others who escaped arrest.

“We know them. They are thugs and in fact everybody in Ajaka know them. They are our children who got spoilt and who never obey their parents.”

Another person who narrated the incident said: “While on her way to the place to deliver the message she was abducted by a gang of 3 male adults who dragged her into a school room to have canal knowledge of her under duress.

“She was forced into a marathon sex that lasted for about 5 hours by these 3 male hefty adults having over powered her and slept with her in turns.

“She screamed and cry out her eyes without help, as her mouth was gagged.

“She finally regained her freedom in the wee hours of the morning at about 2:00 am after the rapists were tired and had to release her and she managed to limp home at about 2:00 am to reveal to the parents what happened to her.

“The parents initially thought that she has decided to pass the night with the sister for fear of an attack, unknowingly that she did not even get to her destination.

Reacting to the incident, the President of the North Central Women Association, NCWA, Dr Mrs Akwu Goodman-Abu called for justice for Miss Ojomaje, stating that if the culprits are not severely punished, they would live to commit more heinous crime in the future.

She said: “This matter cannot be trivialized and handled with levity, as raping case is a grievous offence that attracts severe penalty.

“The NCWA is very much interested in the case and we are ready to follow it to its logical conclusion and ensure that immediate justice is served.

Noting will stop the police from performing their official responsibility by going after the 2 remaining culprits on the run and make sure that they are arrested and brought to face justice accordingly”, she stated.
