BREAKING: FG to send first civilian to space for first time
The Nigerian government has revealed that it would send civilian to the space for the first time as part of effort to position the nation among countries actively engaged in human spaceflight.
The Director-General of National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, Dr Mathew Adepoju, gave this revelation at a press conference held in Abuja, saying that this pioneering effort will be a landmark in Nigeria’s space initiative.
He stated that the country has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Space Exploration and Research Agency, SERA to facilitate this ambitious project, emphasizing that the collaboration signifies a major milestone in Nigeria’s 25th anniversary of space exploration.
Dr Adepoju said: “This initiative opens up new avenues for scientific research and technological advancement.”
He highlighted the potential of this endeavour to foster technological progress and ignite interest in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) among Nigerian youth.
