Senate recalls Ningi from suspension
The recall followed a motion moved by the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, stating that the embattled lawmaker in the upper legislative Chamber who was suspended on 13th March, 2024 should be recalled to enable him carry out his legislative activities.
In the motion titled, “Unconditional recall of Senator Abdul Ningi” motion prayed the Senate to unconditionally recalled Ningi, while took responsibility for his actions.
Senator Morro also apologized to the upper chamber on behalf of Ningi.
DAILY POST recalled that trouble started when the suspended lawmaker granted a media interview alleging padding of the 2024 budget to a whopping sum of N30 trillion.
Motion for Ningi’s suspension was moved under urgent national importance by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
After debate, Ningi was suspended for violating legislative rules, misconduct and unethical behavior.
Senator Moro’s motion on Tuesday had only one prayer, which was for the senate to reconsider the additional resolution of its Votes and Proceedings of Wednesday, 13th March, 2024 and recall Senator Abdul Ningi for him to carry out his legislative activities.
The motion stated that the Senate Minority Leadership accepted full responsibility for the actions of their colleague, Senator Ningi and apologized on his behalf.
The prayer was unanimously approved and Senator Ningi recalled.
