Yahaya Bello’s fate is on the downward spiral as the National Judicial Council has deleted the name of his wife, Amina Bello from the list of High Court Judges nomination.

The former governor at the twilight of his administration forwarded the name of his wife as a nominee from Kogi State along others from Kogi Central against other zones which was considered nepotistic.

The list was trailed with protest and petition by practising lawyers in Kogi who are members of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA and the bench, who insisted that Bello overcrowded the list with his blood relatives.

CAPITAL POST gathered that the NJC vowed to be transparent and accountable in the appointment of Judges and having investigation the list from Kogi State, it was decided that the name of Yahaya Bello’s wife be dropped in line with merit of the petition.

The move by the NJC has been widely praised by advocates for judicial reform and transparency in Nigeria. It underscores the importance of upholding the integrity of the judiciary and ensuring that appointments are based on qualifications and merit rather than political or familial connections.
