Court demands notorious ritualist in Niger
A 50-year old man who is into inserting his fingers into some minors children ‘s virgina and anus for ritual purpose has been ordered to be remanded in Minna Correctional Custody on the order of Minna Chief Magistrate court Number two Tunga by Hajiya Fati Umar Hassan.
Abdullahi Imam popularly known as Abba, was said to have severally lured the minors into his room and fingered their private part.
The minors who are between the ages of seven to nine both boys and girls were said to have been in the habit of molesting them by using his finger in to their private parts and anus for ritual purposes some where in Tayo area of Minna the Niger State capital.
According to the police Prosecutor, ASP Mua’azu Abdullahi, the defendant was standing trial on three count charges which bothered on Act of Gross Indecency, Sexual Abuse, and Exploitation.
He told the court that the offences were punishable under sections 285 (A) and (B) of the Niger State penal code law,1989 as amended and 27 (2) of Niger State child right and Protection law 2021 as amended.
The charge with number S/ SCID/ 81/2024 and made available in the court, read in part; “That one Hajiya Amina Abdullahi of Tayi village, Minna reported at the GRA police station that on the same date at about 1700 hrs she noticed that her nine years old son (names witheld) was telling other small small children in their to pull of their clothes so that he will finger their private part.
“When she questioned he revealed that you Abdullahi Imam (AKA Abba), aged 50 years old of the same address used to lure him and seven other children including girls among them in to your room and shop at Tayi village where you tell them to pull off their clothes and you insert your finger into their Virgina and anus.
“Police swung into action and effected your arrest. During police Investigation you confessed to the crime you are hereby suspected to have committed the offence” .
When the charge was read to him by the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Fati Umar Hassan, he pleaded not guilty and the police Prosecutor Mua’azu Abdullahi ASP opposed his oral bail application as moved moved by the defence counsel Barrister Mohammed Adams.
The Chief Magistrate then ordered for his remand and told the defense counsel to apply for his bail formally.
She then adjourned the case to 20th May, 2024 for rulling on the bail application.
